The X1 Lightning replaced the S1 as Buell's naked sport twin, with a tuned 1203 cc Sportster-based engine using Thunderstorm heads and fuel injection. It brought a stiffer steel frame, aluminium subframe and swingarm, a bigger seat and better cooling for the rear cylinder, and rides with quick steering and strong mid-range pull. The source lists the same figures as for 2000.
